Humans living in the Gobi Desert
The people who inhabit the Gobi Desert are mostly Mongolians, but due to the over-population of the Han Chinese in inner Mongolia, more and more people are forced to move into little-to-no developed areas of the desert. The people who live in the desert generally keep their homes close to a water source (the Yellow River) and tend to move upstream as the seasons change.
There are no houses in the desert, inhabitant use yurts, which are circular huts covered in felt. The yurts create an easily movable home for when the person or family has to move (due to harsh weather conditions, moving to herd their cattle, or lack of water.)
Nomadic cattle herding is the most common job for the population of the desert. It is an involved job, even causing the herders to have to move their yurts when the usable grazing food has run out for the cattle.
There are so few inhabitants in the Gobi Desert, that there are only 3 people living in every square mile.
